                               It is with pleasure that we are present here today to inaugurate this Institute of Agricultural Research wich has been established with the assistance of the Federal Republic of Germany.

We wish to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Federal Republic of Germany for its contributions in the establishment of this Agricultural Institute. Our thanks also go to the German Ambassador for his endeavours in this regard. These and other generous contributions wich the Federal Republic of Germany has made to Ethiopia in various fields will, no doubt, supplement her endeavours of nation building and are, furthermore, indicate of the long-standing friendship existing between our two countries.
